Revolution

Rethink The DJ

Revolution is a boutique entertainment firm that offers unrivaled opportunities for those consumers looking for an elite brand of event DJ.  We believe that the image of the event DJ has tarnished over the years as the market has become flooded with people who presume that being an event DJ is only about playing music and making announcements, when in fact it is so much more than that.  We at Revolution are the real deal.  We pack dance floors with a variety of good music without relying on silly games or props to coax people out onto floor.  We are experts at reading a crowd and knowing where to go or not to go with the music at any particular point in time during the event.  We have that 'Spidey' sense for how to throw a party where people of all ages have an absolute blast.  We are light, articulate and professional on the microphone.  We understand that you and your guests would much rather hear good tunes than us going on and on about this, that or the other.  We customize each reception to our clients' specifications while also allowing ourselves enough wiggle room to read the crowd and make adjustments based on what is happening on the dance floor.  Our final planning session with you produces a typed schedule (or flow) of events.  On the day of your event, copies are made by us and distributed to all other vendors such as the wedding planner, the photographer, the videographer, the caterer and so forth.  As the central hub through which all information flows, we take our job seriously knowing that doing so will free you from having to worry about whether or not things will happen proficiently and according to schedule.  Rest assured, we are in control and yet are not control freaks.  Our laid-back, stress-free demeanor, quirky sense of humor, and acute organizational skills assures that your event will flow seamlessly from one element to the next.  We are humble at heart but proud to say that we are among the best of the best.  So what do you think?  Are you ready to join our Revolution?  It really is time to rethink the DJ!

FAQ's

Do you have references and testimonials? We do.  Several.  You can find a small sampling of them here.

Do you have a video of you that we can watch? We don't. The reason why is because we customize each reception to your specifications and if you were to watch a video of us at a wedding where the bride and groom have completely different tastes in music than yourself, our fear is that the video would hurt more than help us. Instead, we have audio mixes that you can listen to (so that you can hear how we mix/blend songs to keep the momentum building on the dance floor) and dozens of testimonials for you to review.

Do you provide lighting options? Yes. We can enhance your venue with beautiful up lighting.  For lighting designs beyond up lighting, you may visit the award-winning company, eventlightingconcepts.com, for more information.

Are you able to emcee our event?  Yes.  We are seasoned professional emcees; however, we tend to keep the talking to a minimum.  Our focus is on you and your guests having a good time and not on making the event all about us.  All announcements and introductions are done in good taste.

We do not live in your area.  Is it possible to have a face to face interview over the internet? Absolutely.  Skype or Zoom is an excellent way of doing this when an in-person meeting is not feasible.  Or we can meet over the telephone or via FaceTime.

What forms of payment do you accept? We currently accept checks, Venmo and PayPal

Are you insured? Yes.  We are fully insured.

Do you take requests? Of course.  We work closely with you to plan your event well ahead of time and encourage you to put a 'must play' list together as well as a 'do not play' list.  Most of our clients give us a limited number of must play songs because they trust us to use our discretion, exercise good judgment and read the crowd to determine where to go and not to go with the music in order to keep the dance floor packed all night long. We also take requests from your guests and fit them into the mix when we feel it is the most appropriate time to do so based on what songs/genre they are responding to at the moment the request is made and how far into the event we are.  As seasoned DJs we understand that it's all about timing.

How will you dress for the occasion? We dress professionally and tastefully, typically in a dark suit.  We do not wear a tuxedo or vest with sparkles (hopefully to your relief!)

Do you use professional equipment? Absolutely.  Nothing but the best.  The Pioneer CDJ2000 Nexus decks and the Pioneer DJM900 mixer are in a class all their own and rarely find themselves outside some of the best clubs in the country. QSC K-Series speakers and subwoofers are elite in their class and provide clear and even sound to all areas of a room.  We also have back up equipment on hand in the unlikely event that something was to go wrong.

How much time do you allow for set up? We usually only need an hour to set up but always get to an event at least 2 hours ahead of time.  Part of this time is spent setting up our gear and the rest of it is spent touching base with the coordinator of your event to make sure that all of the i's are dotted and t's are crossed.  Our attention to detail, careful planning and clear communication with vendors is paramount to the success of your event.  We therefore think of all vendors as part of our team.  Anyone involved in the production will receive a typed schedule and stay informed about what is happening next so that everyone is ready to move on to the next element when the time arrives.

What kind of music do you play? It really depends on the crowd and what they are responding to as well as what we discussed in our pre-event meeting. If you are looking for a DJ who will play line dances and teach people how to dance them, then we're probably not a good fit for your event.  If, however, you are looking for a DJ who can read your crowed, rock the party and keep the dance floor packed all night long, then we should talk!

What happens in case you are sick the day of our event? We are in excellent health, eat well, exercise regularly and have never missed a gig.  If for some reason it was necessary, we would find a suitable replacement.

How do I get in touch with you? First off, thanks for taking the time to read these FAQ's!  We look forward to hearing from you.  You can knock on our door here.
